Family-owned commercial printing firm Imprimerie Pollina has invested in a new Goss Sunday 4000 64-page press for increased productivity and faster make-readies.

Family-owned commercial printing firm Imprimerie Pollina has invested in a new Goss Sunday 4000 64-page press for increased productivity and faster make-readies.

Due to be installed in the summer of 2007, the four-unit gapless Sunday press will be located at the company's facility in Lucon (France) and will be used to print books, catalogues, advertising material and magazines.

According to Laurent Pollina, managing director of Imprimerie Pollina: "We required an advanced press that would give us the flexibility to achieve rapid make-readies and low waste, whilst increasing our productivity.

We chose the Sunday 4000 system because it offers excellent print quality at high speeds and is designed to excel at long and short runs.

The advanced automation features, including the Autoplate plate changing system, will enable us to substantially improve our production capacity and efficiency." The Goss Sunday 4000 press is a gapless double circumference press designed for high-pagination commercial and publication printing.

Along with standard Sunday press features that include gapless blankets, shaftless drives and pinless folders, the press at Imprimerie Pollina will include the Autoplate fully-automatic plate changing system for faster and simplified job changes.

The press will feature a 1,905mm (75-inch) web width and a 620mm (24.4-inch) cut-off and is claimed to be able to print at up to 15 metres per second (3,000 feet per minute).

Goss International will also supply a Contiweb FD flying paster, Ecocool dryer with integrated chill rolls, a PCF-3 pinless combination folder and Goss Web Centre digital workflow modules to optimise presetting, waste reduction, change-over times and overall productivity.

Laurent Pollina commented: "We are impressed with the advantages Goss presses offer in the double-circumference sector and we're very happy with the good support and after-sales service we have received from Goss International.

We are confident that our investment in the Sunday 4000 press will enable us to deliver what our customers are demanding." Imprimerie Pollina also operates a Goss M-600 web press.
