New Products And Glimpse Of Future From Goss
Goss International announced that it will have a major presence at Drupa 2004 in May and will present future concepts to drive print.
El Tiempo prints around 75,000 copies of its daily newspaper, with three different editions on local news with themed inserts that vary monthly on cars, childcare, beauty, housing and finance.
The new single-width, one-around Goss Magnum 4 press is part of Goss' Community press series and will enable the publisher to produce two magazines, Ardentia and Claro, that it currently only distributes with the Sunday edition of the daily newspaper.
The company has been a long-term user of Goss presses.
Maria Alejandra Marquez, executive president at El Tiempo, commented: "We have extensive experience with Goss presses.
My father bought our first Goss Community press 25 years ago and since then we have invested in a range of Goss equipment that has proven to be both robust and reliable over the years." Apart from being environmentally-friendly, the UV dryer on the latest Magnum 4 press will provide the additional advantages of improvements in productivity, as well as space and cost savings.
It is also an affordable way for printers like El Tiempo to move in to semi-commercial product areas, said Goss.
Besides the new Goss Magnum 4 press, El Tiempo has also invested in a new Goss Magnum 8 single-width, two-around tower addition to its existing Urbanite press in response to increased market demand for colour.
Maria Alejandra Marquez concluded: "El Tiempo is one of the five major newspapers with the highest circulation in Venezuela.
We have chosen to invest in the Goss Magnum 4 and Magnum 8 presses, along with the N40 folder for their proven reliability and durability.
Our investment will give us the opportunity to print semi-commercial products and further enhance our productivity." Established in 1958, El Tiempo is a family business with additional offices in Caracas and in the eastern cities of Cumana, Carupano, El Tigre and Anaco.
Its customers are companies nationwide and locally that include car manufacturers, banks, retailers, service providers and oil companies who advertise in the daily newspaper.
