Web Press Raises Commercial Printer's
Quality
The first Goss M-500 web offset press installed in China has been commissioned by commercial printer Hao Jin Cai at its Chengdu facility.
The new four-unit M-500 press at Hao Jin Cai has a 578mm (22.75-inch) cut-off and Goss International supplied a Contiweb SH40 splicer, Ecotherm dryer and JF-40 folder It was the first press to be manufactured at Shanghai Goss Graphic Systems, Goss International's joint-venture operation in Shanghai (China)

Goss International announced that it will have a major presence at Drupa 2004 in May and will present future concepts to drive print.
Designed to meet the growing demand in the commercial web offset market for value and versatility, the M-500 press is available in a range of cut-offs from 546mm to 598mm (21.5" to 23.5") and in web widths of 914mm, or 965mm (36", or 38"), said Goss.
Featuring a 1:1 in-line cylinder stack, 14-roll ink train and one-web, or two-web configuration options, the press also comes with a choice of Goss folders to produce up to 18 product formats.
Twelve-page and eight-page M-500 press models are also available.

One of the largest magazine and catalogue printers in North America has ordered two new gapless web presses and three finishing systems from Goss International.
Shanghai Goss Graphic Systems' ISO certified factory produces 1,200 Goss printing units annually for worldwide distribution.
Goss International also manufactures M-500 presses in the United States.
An-hu Zhou, general manager of Hao Jin Cai, said: "The premium print quality and outstanding productivity, plus the extremely low start-up waste levels we have achieved with the new M-500 press, have raised our print standard to a much higher level.

These qualities make the press a logical choice for many printers, including those that want to move from sheetfed to web offset." M-500 presses are equipped with Goss Omnicon controls.
Optional Goss Web Center workflow modules, including the Omni Makeready system, are designed to automate production, said Mercy.
The Omni Makeready system is said to calculate and automatically adjust target density, ink film thickness and other job change functions to ensure faster start-ups and reduced waste.
