Pro Line Printing has claimed to have set a productivity record for on Goss C700i insert presses - two million impressions on two presses in a 12-hour shift.

One C700i press at Pro Line averaged 84,775 impressions per hour (iph) achieving a total of 1,017,300 impressions over the course of the shift At the same time the second press produced 1,003,332 impressions, including a version change, averaging a speed of 83,611iph, said Pro Line Printing

The C700i presses are configured with Goss's Digirail digital inking system.

That is claimed to traditional open fountain ink delivery, which is said to reduce start-up waste, whilst providing consistently print quality.

According to Goss, Pro Line was the first printer in the world to equip a Goss insert press with Digirail inking and Pro Line's low make-ready waste levels are mainly due to the accuracy of the Digirail presets.

Pro Line currently operates 19 Goss presses, including 12 C700i presses and it specialises in producing newspaper inserts for retailers in the USA, including Wal-Mart and Home Depot.

Pro Line Printing has three other sites across the USA in Pineville, North Carolina, Arlington, Texas and Avon, Connecticut.

Steven Haire, vice president and general manager of the Pro Line Reno, Nevada Division, said: "The technology that Goss International has introduced to Pro Line has helped us to be even more efficient, provide better quality to our customers and it has instilled pride in our employees knowing that they are producing top quality products time and again." He explained: "To print over one million impressions on two presses on the same shift takes a high level of teamwork, not just from the press crews but from everyone involved.

From accurate plates in pre-press to the paper handlers and the packaging crews, it comes down to cooperation, training and determination to reach this level of efficiency.

The presets are unbelievable because there is virtually zero fluctuation in the ink densities once they are set." Haire added that production speed is one of the few things that can differentiate printers from the competition.

In Pro Line's market, he said that it was not only quality, service and on-time delivery, but also how quickly pritners can turn a job around that makes them stand out from the competition.

Tom Reardon, senior sales manager for Goss International, commented: "Pro Line strives to achieve the very best quality and service for its customers by embracing new technologies and delivering on its promises.

Its pioneering spirit has enabled it to maintain and reach its ambitious growth targets by constantly pushing forward for greater efficiencies.

Pro Line is now reaping the benefits of its past investments with this latest achievement.

We look forward to our continued collaboration in the future and are confident about Pro Line's continued success.".
