Press control system order for US newspapers

A Harland Simon product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Feb 1, 2010

Some of Lee Enterprise's facilities have decided to upgrade to the latest version of the Harland Simon Press Control System and Prima Management System.

The Press Control System and Prima Management System will be installed at Lee Enterprise's Northwest Indiana Times, Munster, Quad City Times, Davenport, and North County Times, Escondido.

Quad City and Northwest Indiana Times completed the upgrades during last December and the North County Times will be completed in early February.

The main motivation behind the upgrade was to moving away from Windows 2000, which Microsoft stopped supporting a number of years ago.

The upgrade also provided the latest generation of Harland Simon's touch screen operator controls, designed to maximise operator efficiency by minimising key strokes.

Improved diagnostics and re-designed background communications to further enhance the reliability and speed of data exchange.

Finally, all computer hardware was replaced to improve performance and extended OEM warranties.
