New technology is claimed to give unlimited range to the latest XL/7 series of in-line process viscometers from Hydramotion.
The XL/7 has no moving parts, is said to no require on-site calibration, and intrinsically safe models are fully Atex and Cenelec certified.
The sensor is installed directly into the fluid flow and long-reach sensors are available for applications where the fluid is inaccessible, such as tanks or large-bore pipes.
Viscosity is measured every three seconds and displayed on the separate signal processor, which can be up to 3000 metres from the transducer.
Compensation software enables viscosity measurements to be corrected to a reference temperature.
The instrument is claimed to be accurate to within plus or minus one per cent of the reading and has high resolution even at very low viscosities.
Every viscometer is factory calibrated to traceable international standards.
Maintenance requirements are said to be minimal as there are no seals or bearings.
