Viscosity Problems Removed For Tag
Producer
The printing of identification tags with MEK solvent-based ink using a patented laser marking system has had viscosity problems cured by a Viscolite 700 portable viscometer from Hydramotion.
According to Hydramotion, when the identification tag company's production engineers saw the Viscolite being used by the technicians who installed the printers, they were impressed by its convenience and ease of use The machine operators check the printing machines regularly and make the necessary adjustments to keep the viscosity set between 3.4 and 3.8cP, adding ink or make-up fluid (a thinning agent) as required

Instant Measurement Without Set-Up Or Calibration
The Viscolite 700 from Hydramotion is claimed to give instant spot measurement of viscosity without requiring any on-site set-up or calibration.
Viscometer Enables Press Operators to Go With Flow
With the Viscolite T15 portable viscometer, the latest addition to the range from Hydramotion, it is claimed that a press operator can easily measure the viscosity of a small sample of ink.
Controlling the viscosity of the ink is essential, because if the viscosity is not correct the ink drop cannot be charged properly and the printing machine will misprint, said Hydramotion, which can be costly because of the tag firm's high-volume production.
The fully-portable Viscolite is factory-calibrated to traceable international standards, making it ready for use without calibration, or set-up by the user, claimed Hydramotion.
An integrated temperature sensor enables measurements to be taken ad hoc and corrected to a reference temperature, enabling operators to check ink viscosity instantly at the working temperature of the machine (29 degrees C).
The Viscolite's solid-rod probe is dipped in to the ink and the measured viscosity is immediately displayed on the read-out unit.
Hydramotion said that the benefits for the tag producer were immediate, with no down time due to viscosity issues.
The tag company now performs its own preventative maintenance and ink head calibrations, whilst the performance of the Viscolite 700 with viscosity problems eliminated. Request a free brochure from Hydramotion ...
