Automatic PDF Inspection System Cuts Workflow Cost

PDF Handshake UB is claimed to automatically inspect PDF files to verify printing compatibility and conformance with standards, such as PDF/X.

Pdfinspector3, the industry standard for checking PDF files, as soon as they are created.

Helios said that users of the new system will get the same results as if each PDF was manually verified using Adobe Acrobat Professional.

The company added that Pdfinspektor3 is included in PDF Handshake UB and works fully integrated with Helios's full product range.

Imageserver adds hot folder support for automatic or interactive pre-flight, whilst Helios's Webshare is claimed to provide a fast and secure managed file transfer platform for remote users.

Its integration is also said to provide server-based, automated PDF checking from any networked PC at any point in the workflow.

PDF reports, output directories and post-processing actions, can all be freely accessed and configured, added the company.

Media houses can now integrate PDF verification when uploading files using Webshare UB.

In so doing, the service provider offers the user the opportunity to check on their own, via any web browser, the quality of the PDF to reduce errors and accelerate the delivery and preparation of PDF jobs.

Otto Stutzig, of Floramedia, an Austrian media house, commented: "We used to employ Pitstop for manual pre-flighting on five desktop workstations and it was tedious.
