Lorien Unique, the printing division of Lorien plc, has installed the new HP Indigo press w3200 to pitch competitively in the long-run market and increase its range of services to existing customers.
It is one of only two in the UK to date and will see Lorien continue its success as a provider of variable-content printing, said HP.
Dan Pike, the sales and marketing director at Lorien said: "We have identified a number of opportunities for high-end, long-run personalisation and the HP Indigo press w3200 will prove essential within those markets.
We have already experienced great success with new clients that simply would not have been possible without the new press.
We recently produced the Marketing Direct show daily for the International Direct Marketing Fair and the publisher was amazed at the print-quality and rapid turn-around of the job.
Having received the files in the evening, the publication needed to be ready for distribution by the following morning.
With efficient, streamlined production, paper could be trimmed straight off and the smooth process ensured we could meet the tight deadline." The HP Indigo press w3200 is claimed to be the industry's most productive digital offset press with substrate flexibility and the benefits of full-colour personalisation and for Lorien, that is the ideal combination for its clients such as Ford Motor Company, added HP.
"One of the main applications for the HP Indigo press w3200 will be the Ford customer satisfaction survey - a demanding variable-content printing job of four million questionnaires in 22 different languages.
This is ideal for the new press, as the high-volume, personalised printing with special spot colours is a unique combination that our customers can now benefit from cost-effectively.
It's the only press we could trust for the job," said Pike.
Lorien said it also in discussion with a number of magazine publishers who are interested in producing customised front covers to provide the personal touch to subscribers.
Pike added: "Book clubs and charities have a special subscriber list they believe would benefit from personalised publications, and we hope to achieve significant success in this market.
The Indigo w3200 has undoubtedly opened a number of new doors for us and with that in mind we are certainly considering further investment in the future." Paul Randall, the UK marketing manager at HP said: "Lorien is showcasing the full capabilities of the Indigo w3200.
It's the ideal machine for high-volume printing, publishing and direct mail applications.
With its seven-colour capability and unlimited substrate flexibility the press is an investment that will capitalise on the full spectrum of opportunities available for today's digital printing market.".
