Danwood's HP Distribution Deal Marks Partner Trend

A Hewlett-Packard product story

HP at the UK's Northprint exhibition yesterday demonstrated a range of new partner collaborations for its professional printing portfolio.

HP at the UK's Northprint exhibition yesterday demonstrated a range of new partner collaborations for its professional printing portfolio.

They include a new entry-level Directsmile product, a near-line finishing system with Duplo, product additions with Printable and a nationwide UK agreement with reseller, Danwood - the first of its kind for HP.

The company said that the combination of those announcements signified a step forward for HP Indigo in its strategy to step up its offer to print service providers, graphic designers and marketing agencies.

The agreement with Danwood that HP has forged grants Danwood distribution and service rights for the HP Indigo presses.

Already the largest independent reseller of HP's multifunction printers in the UK, Danwood will focus on the Indigo 1050 press for the commercial graphic arts market and the Indigo 3050 and 5000 for the corporate and reprographics sector.

HP's Indigo country manager Adrian Stark said: "We are keen to continue building relationships with channel partners such as Danwood, as HP Indigo presses increasingly become the machines of choice for companies looking to improve workflow, reduce costs and vary their print runs.

This agreement will help us enhance our existing customer service and provide new routes to market for our technology.

Businesses are recognising that sophisticated, tailored documents are becoming more commonplace and this agreement is a further indication of the growing demand for digital print within the industry." At the same time, HP and Duplo have now expanded their relationship with the launch of a new version of Yours Truly Designer, a workflow tool provided with all HP Indigo presses.

The latest version has been enhanced to add special functions to create the barcodes that automate the booklet maker Duplo PDC (Production Digital Colour Finisher) and the DC-645 cutter and creaser.

"Automating the finishing process based on the emerging JDF standard is becoming an increasingly important focus of the digital publishing industry because it gives commercial printers greater control of the production process from job submission to finished product.

HP and Duplo are committed to deliver a system that addresses this need, offering compatibility across the entire line of HP Indigo digital presses," said HP's Adrian Stark.

Dominic Quennell, the vice president of global marketing at Duplo Corporation, added: "We are committed to increasing productivity in the finishing of production digital colour printing.

Working with the HP Indigo presses, the PDC Finisher incorporates a closed-loop workflow to create an efficient near-line finishing process.".
