HP will be presenting what it claimed to be the world's broadest portfolio of commercial and industrial digital printing systems at Ipex 2006, April 4-11 April, Birmingham (UK).

The HP stand - 4-B25 - will present application focused zones, showcasing systems together with 30 HP partners, running real-life scenarios to demonstrate the power and potential of digital print across markets, said the company.

The stand will feature systems and applications for commercial work, labelling and packaging, personalised direct mail, creative and graphics and indoor and outdoor signage.

Industry seminars from industry commentators will be running at the HP stand each day, offering market and business focused insight on subjects such as commercial print, publishing, packaging, agencies, dealers and book print, added HP.

The establishment of the new HP graphics and imaging business unit will demonstrate the company's commitment to the graphics markets.

The recently completed US$230 million acquisition of Scitex Vision and the OEM agreement with Seiko I Infotech to develop and market low solvent based printers, exemplify HP's strategy to expand its product portfolio, said the company.

That expansion will include the production of signs, banners, building wraps and vehicle graphics.

Those products have just been announced and are scheduled to be shown at Ipex.

HP's Designjet 4500 series comes with twin rolls for higher turn-around time and the ease of unattended printing, said HP.

The machine, which is designed for architectural, graphic and repro-house output, is said to offer a lower colour cost per page than mono.

The Designjet 8000 and 9000s printers, produced in partnership with Seiko I Infotech, are HP's first low solvent systems.

Application-based areas of HP's Ipex stand will demonstrate the production capabilities of the company's digital printing systems in conjunction with partner companies and making its European debut will be the Indigo press w3250, which will be printing direct mail materials at claimed speeds of up to 136 full colour pages per minute, further closing the gap between conventional offset and digital printing, added the company.

The HP Printer 4000 is a high-speed inkjet variable data marking and coding printer from the company's specialty printing systems division, which is designed for varied applications, including labels, direct mail and packaging.

High volume printing will be carried out by the HP Indigo press 5000, featuring the latest enhancements that include accelerated monochrome printing (up to a claimed 16,000 copies per hour), gang stackers for unloading whilst printing, and an HP RIP Expansion Rack for expanded processing capacity.
