Digital press for labelling and packaging

A Hewlett-Packard product story

Major confectionery supplier goes digital.

HP has supplied its first HP Indigo Press ws2000 digital press in the UK to Eclipse Marketing Solutions, a supplier of product wrap prototypes on multiple substrates to the UK confectionery industry.

The Hull-based pre-press and digital company was also the first European company to adopt the Indigo Omnius web-fed packaging and label press in 1995, and changed its previous trading name from Brand Central to Eclipse towards the end of 2001.

Speed of response, added flexibility in evaluating new designs during the development process, and the accurate replication of finished appearance prior to press production are cited as the principal cost and time benefits realised through the introduction of digital print technology.

This has helped Eclipse add the UK's major confectionery producers to its established customer base.

?We're as near to the real thing as you can get,? said Eclipse managing director Brian Cooke.

?Whilst a printer or a designer might be able to visualise what a finished product will look like, marketeers and brand managers prefer to evaluate a prototype based on the actual packaging material to be used.

The new web-fed HP Indigo Press ws2000 is even more technically advanced than its predecessor.

We have faith in the product because it achieves superb quality ? our client base proves that ? and we are confident that our decision to upgrade on the technology will enable us to triple our current turnover within the next five years,? added Cooke.
