HP Indigo has teamed up with graphic arts industry software developer Objective Advantage to adopt its OASymbio Suite of web-enabled production management tools.
HP has chosen the Objective Advantage products as preferred software for its line of Indigo digital presses.
The OASymbio Suite is a collection of tools that uses PDF and JDF standards to automate production, providing print service providers with a print production workflow system that delivers a competitive advantage, claimed HP.
As a print automation platform from which to build an integrated print supply chain, OASymbio, integrated with HP's Indigo digital presses, will help print service providers to achieve enhanced profit margins, through workflow efficiencies and reduced employee costs, added the company.
Friedhelm Hartmann, at HP Indigo, said: "Our aim is to deliver an all digital, web-enabled service for businesses.
Introducing OASymbio to our Indigo digital presses takes us a step further towards giving our customers an all-automated process to streamline the efficiencies of print production." The OASymbio integrated workflow is said to enable print service providers to enhance profit margins by increasing production capacity with minimal capital expenditure, streamlining job processing efficiencies.
The system's graphical user interface also reduces labor and training costs, it is claimed.
HP added that with OASymbio automating print production, the print service provider can increase interaction with customers and vendors and improve responsiveness, by interlinking key processes and people within and beyond the print shop ( including customers, creative services, sales, suppliers, management, production, fulfillment, and shipping, for instance.
It is also possible to connect multiple, disparate entities, systems, vendors and products, whilst passing transaction, production and tracking information in an accurate, automated fashion, said the company.
Interfacing directly with customers' own systems and third party software, is also an added advantage.
Gareth O'Brien, the chief executive officer of Objective Advantage, said: "Printers today need to ensure they maintain a competitive advantage and in so many cases the key to business success lies in increasing production efficiencies and maximising output.
OASymbio automates print production from customer order right through to finishing, providing a more cost-effective way to print both new and recurring jobs." HP Indigo and Objective Advantage will demonstrate the OASymbio products at Graphexpo in Chicago (USA) in October.
