HP has announced the availability of its Indigo Production Stream Server version 1.1, Powered by Creo.

HP has announced the availability of its Indigo Production Stream Server version 1.1, Powered by Creo It is described as a digital front end that provides HP Indigo digital press users a greater ability to print with colour accuracy in a wider range of process and spot colours

For the first time, HP Indigo customers will be able to use the HP Indigo Production Stream Server to produce five-colour - seven-colour jobs, using a system that brings high-end commercial printing colour management technology to the robust process-colour and spot-colour capabilities of the HP Indigo press platform, said the company.

The new server is also claimed to have a host of productivity enhancements, including integration with Kodak's new Unified Workflow system.

With this feature, users of Kodak's Prinergy and Brisque workflow systems can now incorporate their HP Indigo press operations in automated, JDF-based and PDF-based workflows, handling everything from web-to-print order entry to automated finishing.

Alon Bar-Shany, vice president and general manager of Indigo division for HP, said: "With this system, we are unleashing the potential of multi-colour digital printing, including the only available technology for digital press production in six colours and seven colours - providing a system for meeting the most stringent colour demands.

Print service providers, including those establishing hybrid offset and digital workflows, will benefit from a new level of ability and reliability in colour matching, RIP productivity and JDF connectivity." Enhancements to the Indigo Production Stream Server version 1.1 enable HP's exclusive Pantone-enabled features for high-end, offset-quality spot-colour printing and process-colour matching, said HP, including HP Indichrome on-press, a six-colour (CMYKOV) Pantone emulation for simulating the Pantone Matching System.

It also features HP Indichrome off-press, an 11-colour mixing system for solid spot ink creation, HP Professional Pantone technology, which is an on-press four-colour (CMYK) Pantone emulation for simulating Pantone Matching System colours.

Exclusive seven-colour digital printing capabilities, are also a feature.

The HP Indigo Production Stream Server is also claimed to enhance connectivity and productivity with features such as a load-while-printing operation for production of variable-data jobs containing a large number of records and support for the HP Indigo presses 1000 and 1050.

The HP Indigo Production Stream Server version 1.1 was unveiled for the first time at the Digital Solutions Cooperative (Dscoop) annual conference on Florida (USA).

Available through HP, the HP Indigo Production Stream Server includes professional colour management technologies from PODS group, an independent unit of Kodak's Graphic Communications Group that manufactures Creo Digital Colour Servers and one-to-one marketing communications tools.
