HP's Gallery Deal Pioneers Art Posters On Demand
HP's partnership with the UK's National Gallery in London and its print on demand (POD) technology has enabled HP to reach the shortlist for the 27th national Arts and Business awards just announced.
HP believes that the printer is the most productive large format printer in its class and it enables print service providers to increase print capacity, reduce turn-around times and offer new applications to customers and clients, whilst providing predictable, consistent colour.
Available in 107cm and 152cm (42-inch and 60-inch) models, the Designjet Z6100 series is claimed to provide prints at speeds over 93 square metres per hour (1,000 square feet per hour) on plain paper and 23.4 square metres per hour (250 square feet per hour) on photo paper and features new HP Double Swath Technology for Designjets.
In addition, the first Optical Media Advance Sensor corrects banding and paper advance control, so the printer can print at higher speeds and across various environmental conditions without sacrificing image quality, added the company.
Utilising HP's Vivera pigment inks, the eight-ink Designjet Z6100 printing system is said to provide vivid, water-resistant, fade-resistant prints, including high-impact indoor retail signage, museum-quality fine art photos and clean, crisp line drawings.
Interior display prints produced on a range of HP media resist fading over one year un-laminated and over three years laminated, whilst interior displays prints, away from direct sunlight, resist fading over 200 years, it is claimed.
Featuring HP's Dreamcolor technology, the Designjet Z6100 offers colour consistency with an embedded spectrophotometer designed with Eye-One colour technology from X-rite.
The embedded spectrophotometer enables users to achieve consistent, accurate colour, from printer to printer every time, regardless of time and changing environmental conditions, claimed HP.
HP will also demonstrate the Designjet 10000s printer series, which enables print service providers, sign shops and screen printers to boost their businesses by producing durable signage up to 264cm (104") wide.
Capable of producing signage at speeds of up to 30 square metres per hour (323 square foot per hour), the Designjet 10000s prints super-wide format long-lasting, high-quality signs, banners, billboards, wall murals and window and vehicle graphics in resolutions up to 720 dots per inch (dpi) x 720dpi, it is claimed.
HP will also be promoting the Designjet 8000 series for traditional sign shops and screen printers expanding in to outdoor signage markets, which is said to be suitable for a range of large format applications.
It can produce a variety of signs and banners, printing 10 square metres per hour (107 square feet per hour) of long-lasting colour output at 720dpi x720dpi, it is claimed.
The Designjet 8000sr model includes an Onyx SignEZ version two RIP for productivity and colour management, HP support and other accessories that are said will simplify the implementation process.
Graphics industry users can now create colour profiles in a few minutes instead of hours and receive exact colour matches throughout the printing process.
The 12-ink Z3100 photo printer series on display on the stand, provides automated colour management that enables professional photographers to consistently print museum-quality colour and mono photos up to 44" wide with 200 years' photo permanence, claimed HP.
The Designjet Z3100 series uses a 12-ink HP Vivera pigment system, including the HP 70 Gloss Enhancer and HP Quad-Black inks to create mono prints and achieve neutral greys under different lighting conditions.
The Designjet Z series featuring Dreamcolor technology is said to offer colour consistency with an embedded spectrophotometer, utilising Eye-One technology from X-rite, to achieve consistent, accurate colour printer to printer and print to print.
The Designjet Z includes HP's Advanced Profiling Solution, which was co-developed with GretagMacbeth, to provide additional options for profiling calibration.
According to HP, many screen printers have already recognised that wide format digital inkjet printing offers an effective, complementary process that can enable them to expand their product offerings and services.
Providing a combination of throughput, cost-effective production and high quality output, HP said it systems enable screen, offset and digital printers to become more competitive, grow their businesses and broaden their portfolios.
HP will also be demonstrating the latest in the TJ series of printers.
Launched in 2006, the HP Scitex TJ8500 has already proved very popular with printers seeking a machine with UV capabilities, said HP.
Based on the same platform as the established HP Scitex TJ8300 it expands the range's supported media to include untreated materials, such as offset and screen papers, as well as uncoated synthetic materials.
