HP's Entry Level and Indigo Presses Emerge
Hewlett-Packard has announced two entry-level digital printers and two new Indigo presses.
Ralph Del Rio, chief financial officer at MLI, said: "We call our HP Indigo work 'hybrid' digital printing because it has the quality of offset but also offers the advantages of digital.
The company, and by extension our customers, are comfortable with the HP Indigo press 5000 and the quality it offers because it has a blanket, it has an impression cylinder, it uses liquid ink instead of toner and it prints with true Pantone spot colours." Parts of MLI's business are focused on personalised marketing campaigns, trans-promotional materials, leads management and response analytics and metrics, areas that now benefit from the HP Indigo technology.
Whilst continuing to provide its customers with traditional, high-volume offset marketing campaign needs, with the new HP Indigo press, MLI designs and implements campaigns to meet increasing demand for offset-quality, highly targeted, fully personalised digital printing.

The Indigo press operation is also integrated with an asset management system for supply-chain management services.
For one major customer, the service involves managing 400 different product images, which are then incorporated in digitally printed materials on demand as they are ordered by 11,000 users of a web-to-print system.
Rich Raimondi, vice president and general manager for US graphic arts business at HP Imaging and Printing Group, said: "MLI is capturing business opportunities by relying on the quality, reliability and value available with HP graphic arts systems.
Adding Indigo digital printing capabilities to an already robust line-up of HP graphic arts systems enables the firm to offer a new level of high-value marketing services." The new Indigo press is part of the array of HP technologies in use at MLI.
The company also provides monochrome lettershop services using HP Laserjet printers and offers inkjet personalisation for longer-run offset-printed direct mail using HP speciality printing systems-equipped technologies.
In addition, MLI prints large-format displays, point-of-purchase materials, banners, posters and giclee fine-art reproductions using HP Designjet large-format printers.
The Indigo press 5000 is said to be designed for demanding production operations.
Pantone-licensed, it prints in up to seven colours, providing offset quality on a range of substrates and is supported by a complete range of systems partners.
The 62-employee MLI, founded more than 35 years ago, offers direct marketing and fulfillment to national clients in the health care, mortgage banking, financial and cosmetics industries, amongst others.
The company's range of digital technology includes a number of HP large-format, laser and inkjet-based systems.
