The UK's first HP Indigo 3500 press has been installed by Your Print Solution and is now producing a range of material for print management agencies, as well as direct to businesses.

Indigo 3500 system is now printing work that was previously produced on an HP Indigo 1000 press Both presses were bought HP's partner The Digital People

The Indigo 3500 press was launched last May at HP's Graphic Arts Summit in Rome (Italy) was bought by Your Print Solution during the Digital Print World exhibition in London last year.

HP said that the Indigo 3500 builds on the success of the company's Indigo 3050, which is described as a digital press at an entry-level price.

The 3500 press is claimed to provide a system for small volume marketing material, direct mail, books and manuals.

Said to provide simplified operation with HP's Indigo Press Production Manager and colour management with four-colour and six-colour Pantone emulations and ICC profiling, it is also claimed to offer increased production value and productivity, enabling volume-based profit opportunities.

Your Print Solution has seen an increase in personalisation and variable data work, which the new press handles efficiently and quickly, added HP.

All jobs are now printed in-house, making production more cost-effective for Your Print Solution and enabling the company to pass on savings down the supply-chain.

During the first six weeks of production the Indigo 3500 ran from 8.00am - 4.00am to cater to demand, printing jobs as varied as personalised Christmas cards to 350 page financial reports.

Your Print Solution has also produced 2,000, four-page application forms for the nationwide stores of a popular UK high-street retailer, using its Indigo 3500.

The lead times for printing the job lithographically would have been between four and five days but using its new digital press the company was able to deliver all 2,000 items the same evening.

The production speed of the new Indigo 3500 is claimed to be up to 68 pages per minute (ppm) in four-colours or 136ppm in monochrome, which has also enabled Your Print Solution to take on more print-on-demand work.

Steven Brown, the managing director of Your Print Solution, said: "When the time came for us to invest in a new digital press we knew we wanted to stay with HP because of the great print quality.

The launch of the Indigo 3500 was a great opportunity to invest in the latest technology.

The press is so easy to work with, the colours are fantastic, the print quality is great and we have significantly increased our productivity.

We have had to double our paper supply and make further investments in finishing equipment to ensure we are maximising the press's capabilities.".
