Hewlett-Packard seeks to enhance digital workflow

A Hewlett-Packard product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Jun 15, 2009

Hewlett-Packard claims its Smartstream Director enhances digital workflow systems for print service providers.

Powered by Press-sense Iway version 5.0, Smartstream Director is said by HP to provide small to large businesses with an integrated and open workflow that can automate, manage, customise and optimise business and production processes from job creation through to fulfilment, including online job submission and the placement of variable data.

Smartstream Director provides a customisable set of tools to meet print buyer and print provider needs in various market segments, including general commercial printing, direct marketing and print publications, believes HP.

The system is said to integrate a variety of Press-sense applications and technology, as well as HP's tools and systems.

The new software is said to have a built-in, variable data printing package that handles workflows from creation to fulfilment based on HP's Smartstream Designer.

Initially developed to support HP's Indigo presses, Smartstream Director will be expanded in the future to support other HP graphic arts digital printing products, added the company.
