Marsh Labels orders HP Indigo press

A Hewlett-Packard product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Nov 5, 2009

Marsh Labels of Shoreham-by-Sea, UK, has bought an HP Indigo press WS4050 and the Digicon Lite converting unit from AB Graphic International.

The business specialises in hot foil labels and also offers litho and flexo printed labels, primarily in short runs.

These services are provided to customers ranging from private individuals to agencies and print buyers for companies and brands.

Gary Burnley, a director at Marsh Labels, said: 'We have handled digital label jobs for customers for a number of years, but sub-contracted the printing.

'Having our own press and finishing capabilities means that we control the process, the production and ensure the quality,' he added.

In addition to hot foil stamping, the company has also established a niche in the short-run printing of bar codes.

Its Indigo press, due to be installed and fully operation this month, in time for the peak season, will be able to handle bar codes, batch numbers and sell-by dates using its variable data capability.

Marsh Labels' Indigo press has a seven-colour capability, including white, which is of particular use when printing transparent substrates, said HP.

The Digicon Lite converting unit from HP's partner, AB Graphic International, offers small label printers an entry-level system to provide flood varnishing, UV curing, semi-rotary die cutting, slitting and rewinding.

In addition, the unit supplied to Marsh Labels includes a lamination feature.

Bringing all these functions in-house in a single space-saving unit has further facilitated the company's move to digital production.
