Powerhouse, one of the UK's largest appliance retailers, has extended its print management contract with HH Associates.

As part of the current four-year contract, a seven strong HH Associates team will be based on-site at Powerhouse's head office to manage the studio.

HH Associates said that its team will streamline the creative and design process for Powerhouse by providing on the spot decisions on issues such as branding, colour management, print specifications and campaigns.

By incorporating design in the print management lifecycle, HH Associates will considerably reduce the time to market for all Powerhouse marketing material.

The HH Associates staff on-site will use web-based technology to view and edit proofs in real-time for a quick turn around.

Using litho screen dot digital imaging, HH can also provide colour accurate proofs ensuring a closer match to the finished product.

The new contract will provide savings of GBP 1 million in design and proofing costs.

Commenting on the decision to outsource creative design support, Bethan Edwards, the general manager of marketing and communications at Powerhouse said: "During the six months we have been working with HH Associates on our print management, we have seen significant cost savings and efficiency improvements.

We quickly came to realise that by transferring control of our creative processes to HH as well, we could make additional savings and benefit further from its expertise.

By working with one organisation to manage the entire process, we should quickly reap the rewards of a more streamlined approach to print design and procurement and ultimately reduce the time to market of all our campaigns." In addition to increasing efficiencies at the design stage of the process, HH is working with Powerhouse to improve the turn-around time of printing creative work at a local level.

Printers have been installed at each retail outlet, to enable stores to print their own posters and leaflets in response to sudden price changes or special offers, ensuring that all stores are up to date and display the correct material.

Commenting on the contract extension Robert MacMillan, HH Associates' managing director commented: "By working with Powerhouse on its POS, advertising material and large volume insert production, we were quickly able to show significant return on investment on its print management.

Being fully integrated in their marketing projects has now enabled us to offer additional savings and we are very pleased to be able to deliver this level of additional value to the relationship.
