The £1.7m deal also includes Signastation imposition software, Metadimension workflow and CIP4 Prepress interface.

The company is comprehensive in the services it provides, from export work for places as diverse St Kitts, the US, German and Italy, through to a print while you wait service typically providing plates from disk in 30 minutes and print in an hour.

The company outputs 400 plates a week and has an average print run of 5,000.

The company produces brochures, calendars, leaflets, business cards and every other type of print but it prides itself on its quality and it is for this reason that it specified the coater.

It believes this type of finish will tie customers in because they would not accept uncoated if they get used to the higher spec finish.

Coating is a prerequisite of the while you wait service.

Before this latest investment Creative Print had produced work on a battery of two-colour presses, putting out its full colour work to other printers.

The company likes the control that in house plate and full colour production gives it.

Having a fifth colour enables it to produce logos as a solid Pantone, a service most companies expect today.

The company has full cutting, folding and stitch-trim facilities in-house.

Creative Print's managing director Delroy Goodison's said: "I've just spent £1.7m and I am only just getting back to sleep at night.

Heidelberg is more expensive than others but when we did our market research and looked at a number of options we found that the overall package it offered was the best.".
