The family run business run by managing director Jim Bidnall produces magazines, full colour brochures, promotional material and stationery.

It is for the stationery side that the company has primarily chosen the GTO, relieving pressure on its larger full colour SRA2 presses and adding capacity as three new important end user contracts are added.

The company looked at the Printmaster QM46 but this portrait press is a spot colour machine unsuited to mopping up the occasional four-colour job that the fine registration on the GTO will allow.

The GTO was proven, robust technology at a price well below that of the top of the range and highly automated Speedmaster SM52 that Heidelberg offers, said the company.

"We needed a machine that could produce very high quality work.

It needed to be a machine with a known reputation and which is solid and reliable.

This will add capacity and we are now moving things around to make space for it and will welcome its arrival," said Bidnall.

The press will run on double day shifts at the 10-staff company, which serves a market within a radius of about 100 miles, taking in London and the eastern region of the UK.

The company has in- house Mac facilities and finishing that can cope with the additional capacity that this latest investment brings.

Having front to back facilities in-house is seen as a vital tool for a company meeting very tight turnrounds with quality work.
