The new press replaces a seven-year-old machine after the company became a convert to Speedmaster CD technology.
The new Speedmaster will provide an approximate 30%-40% increase in productivity and more flexibility with the option of up to six colour as well as full coating with extended delivery.
"I wouldn't run a press without coating these days.
It is practical because of the amount of silk and matt-coated stocks specified.
With coating you know they will not mark in the finishing area and that's important to us because we handle a lot of very high quality colour work.
The anilox option gives us more comprehensive in-house coating options, including aqueous," said Javelin managing director Brian Higgins.
He added that the company knows that sometimes it will have a lot of six-colour work and other weeks none (it estimates 40% full six-colour usage) but it wants the flexibility of paper thickness, speed, changeover and colour requirements that this press specification offers.
The company's existing five-colour CD 102, which was installed three years ago, has standard coating.
Javelin's new Polar 115 System 2 cutting system replaces an older Perfecta and comes with jogging, cutting, transfer and waste disposal units included.
It has had excellent service from an existing Polar.
Most of Javelin's work is from the north-west of England, although through intermediaries, agents and procurement houses, it can reach a national and international base of end users.
The plant runs 106 continuous hours a week with weekend overtime as required.
