Western Education and Library in Omagh, Northern Ireland, has taken delivery of a Heidelberg GTO two-colour perfector.

Western Education and Library in Omagh, Northern Ireland, has taken delivery of a Heidelberg GTO two-colour perfector.

The new press will give it a 30% productivity lift over the single-colour press it replaces and the flexibility of running two-sided black and white work through to two pass full colour production.

Western Education and Library produces print for 300 schools in its area, mainly prospectuses and stationery, and it handles some other local council work.

The inplant is armed with one Heidelberg Quickmaster QM46 two colour press, one high volume black and white photocopier and a colour photocopier as well as the GTO and it has full prepress and finishing facilities in house.

There are seven staff employed there and the inplant has an annual turnover of ?350,000.

John Crawford, who heads up the inplant, says: "We looked at a few machines but this offered best value for money among the B3 perfectors.

We handle a fair bit of black and white but there is an increased demand for colour as well so moving from single- to two-colour makes sense." The press will run on a flexible single shift basis at the plant.
