Heidelberg has announced that the new Prinect Document Mastering 1.0 software will give print businesses even greater digital pre-press productivity employing its family of Digimaster print systems.

Heidelberg has announced that the new Prinect Document Mastering 1.0 software will give print businesses even greater digital pre-press productivity employing its family of Digimaster print systems Prinect Document Mastering 1.0 digital pre-press software, which is now available to customers worldwide, is designed to improve efficiency and versatility in addressing a wide range of document printing applications on all Digimaster devices (Digimaster 9110, 9110cp, 9150i)

Built on the industry-standard Adobe Acrobat the new software enables easy sharing of PDF documents - regardless of the application they were originally created in, it is claimed.

It also provides one workflow for both colour and mono document assembly.

"Prinect Document Mastering 1.0 software is a cutting-edge application that will greatly enhance the Digimaster product family's capabilities and dramatically reduce scan and make-ready time for printers," said Leonard Christopher, vice president of workflow solutions at Heidelberg's Digital Print Solution Centre.

"This version of the software also brings us ever closer to the JDF industry standard, by enabling workflow management to provide process reliability and flexibility," he added.

The new software incorporates the popular functionality of Imagesmart document mastering software and offers additional capabilities for greater productivity.

By employing the image editor, users can edit a colour image embedded in a PDF document, including enhancing the image's colour content and assigning an ICC profile.

An expanded tab creation tool enables users to create tab labels from PDF bookmarks, expanding on the powerful cut and bleed-tab creation of the existing software.

More page features provided in the software enable hybrid jobs, including the ability to define colour inserts by tagging pages as colour, as well as defining colour pages as 'do not print,' giving operators exact control over which pages are produced across colour and mono devices.

Users can print one or more PDF documents within a folder without opening documents, employing the individual document job tickets or specifying a job ticket template to apply across all documents in the batch.

That applies to print-on-demand fulfilment and variable-print PDF applications.

Integrated paper catalogue management allows users to add, modify and delete papers, as well as add and delete paper attribute values.

They can also customize the display order of papers in the catalogue based on their needs.

Licensees can share the software for in-house and customer use in the Prinect Document Mastering 1.0 SE mode.

This mode gives the user access to all of the functionality of the software, with the ability to proof watermarked output at the printer.

It is also said to drive greater collaboration between print providers and customers by enabling the customer to perform initial job set-up and soft-copy proofing.
