Growing Fingerprint Makes Its Mark With SM52

A Heidelberg product story

Fingerprint is moving to a new business level following installation of a Heidelberg Speedmaster SM52 five-colour press and its first CTP system, a Prosetter 52.

The CTP investment with Heidelberg is funded through a consumables deal.

The Oxfordshire (UK) company retains a two-colour press but can now handle the four-colour work that production director David Moore is used to running and managing director Martin Cooke is used to selling.

Cooke said: "Heidelberg has supported us since we started nearly three years ago.

The whole package, people as well as product, are so good, so professional.

Cost constraints on start up meant we could only afford a two-color press but now we welcome the move to our next stage of development.

The SM52 is Heidelberg's top of the range 83 press and it fits our target of always offering top quality 83 work reliably." Fingerprint already has some prestigious contracts, including work from Oxfam, print management companies, St John's Ambulance and a range of medical, political and property companies.

With the new press it hopes to add full colour jobs to the spot colour business handled from existing customers and to extend its client portfolio.

The company will output about 300 plates a month with the Prosetter and it is one of the first in the UK to select Fuji LPNV photopolymer plates, which Heidelberg now distributes alongside other CTP options.

"For a young growing company a consumables deal suits us very well.

It takes any pain out of moving into full colour with specials or seals and is a very convenient way to repay on capital equipment," said Cooke.
