Heidelberg University's Business Management Focus
For the fifth time, managers from the print media industry will travel from all over the world to attend the Summer University at Heidelberg's Print Media Academy (PMA) in Heidelberg from July 16-21.
Print 'University' Discusses Management Methods
Cape Town (South Africa) will be the host city for the eighth Summer University to be staged by German press manufacturer Heidelberg to be aimed at printing industry management.
Management trainees are also welcome.
Participants will be provided with practical management expertise over a one-week period.
This will cover general aspects of business management and strategy development and how these can be implemented in the participant's own business.
Innovative service, product and sales concepts will be covered and the course will also provide useful information on topics such as financial management, controlling, personnel management and organizational development.
Heidelberg said the summer university focuses less on print technology and methodology and more on the latest developments in practical business management.
The course offers participants the opportunity to raise their current problems or present future plans.
Then, under the guidance of experienced industry experts, they can discuss alternative solutions with their international colleagues or examine existing project plans in detail.
As well as benefiting from the knowledge of expert speakers, they also learn from the valuable experiences and different approaches of their international colleagues and receive a free analysis of their own problems or an evaluation of their future plans, added the company.
At a special workshop, Heidelberg will also present an overview of the latest technological developments and recent trends in the industry.
The timetable will also include site visits to German printers.
The course will be held in English and will cost 3,200 Euro (plus VAT).
Participant numbers are limited to 20.
The program will continue in 2005 with the winter university, which will be held in Florida in next January.
The winter university traditionally deals more with the technical side of the industry.
