Qualitech already has a six-colour B2 press with a coater and its success led the company to replicate the formula in B1 format.
It is witnessing an increased demand for specials and seals, even metallics, and it wants to be able to offer its customer that and to be able to turn work around very quickly.
The company looked also at Mitsubishi but preferred the Heidelberg option, which is a straightforward switch.
The new press will run on a three-shift system to give 24 hour, five day a week cover.
John Openshaw, managing director of the group's printing division, said: "We needed extra capacity and in replacing a CD102-5 with the new press we will get that because of the increased speed, faster make-ready and CIP 4 connectivity through pre-press interface." The company handles brochures and promotional material for a wide range of customers, including well-known financial institutions.
The group has specialist origination divisions in the commercial printing, packaging and digital sectors as well as design and photographic services.
"We offer a wide range of services all on-site.
This allows us to achieve greater control and consistency along with cost efficiency for our clients," said Openshaw.
