Graphicomm in Plymouth (UK) is replacing one Heidelberg Printmaster QM46 with two to handle the rapid growth in its corporate stationery business.

Graphicomm in Plymouth (UK) is replacing one Heidelberg Printmaster QM46 with two to handle the rapid growth in its corporate stationery business The company placed an order on the small format Heidelberg bus when it toured the UK

Graphicomm had been torn between investing in a Speedmaster SM52-2 or two QM46s but came down in favour of the two portrait presses because it will give it more flexibility and the quality is right for the stationery sector it serves.

One of the new presses will feature numbering and perfing.

"Our first QM 46 is over three years old and has enabled us to manage considerable growth, 60 per cent on sales last year attributable to this alone," said Graphicomm director Paul Sharpe.

"The QM46 is popular here because of the quality it can achieve and its quick and easy make ready and wash up.

Although email and other electronic solutions have affected some parts of the stationery market, corporate stationery and forms is still a growth market as far as we are concerned.

We handle corporate stationery for companies and government bodies across the UK and into mainland Europe.

We offer an easy ordering system that eliminates errors, minimises our lead times and our customers' stockholdings.

In addition, we offer stock control and distribution services," commented Sharpe.

Although a second QM46, arriving later this month, will relieve some pressure it is unlikely that Graphicomm will step back from its double day shift, 16-hour a day working routine, which gives customers the response and flexibility they need.

The company still uses conventional platemaking methods but will look at the CTP option over the next 18 months.
