Dan Dean, production director ay Wyndeham Gait, said: "Our operators expressed a preference for Heidelberg/Stahl when a new machine was discussed with them.

We want this machine to handle high run folding, leaving the other folders free for shorter runs.

The pallet feeder was chosen because we produce very well stacked pallets from the presses which will enable us to take them straight to the folder without any manual handling issues.

It has also been positioned close to another folder so that one operator can manage two machines with help taking off sections.

The pallet feeder means we only need a pallet every hour or so and it runs much faster." Wyndeham Gait, part of the Wyndeham Press Group, is a specialist two-colour B1 sheetfed printing company.

The company is equipped with an Agfa CTP system, three B1 presses together with five folders, guillotines, perfect binding and saddle stitching machines.

The company can also collate, flat wire, drill and shrink wrap products and specialises in hand bench work.

Wyndeham Gait is experienced in the typesetting, data conversion, printing and binding of general stationery and promotional literature including magazine carrier sheets, car handbooks, bus and train timetables, books, leaflets and loose-leaf manuals.

It also has a large warehouse.

Over 65 staff are employed on the site which operates 24 hours, five days a week with weekend working as required.

The folder operates on a two-shift basis.

The company said it plans to implement JDF networking over time, when the critical mass of new JDF-compatible equipment makes the option realistic and viable.
