Ipex 2006 is seeing a new, semi-automatic pile change system in the delivery and non-stop operation of the Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 74 press.

Ipex 2006 is seeing a new, semi-automatic pile change system in the delivery and non-stop operation of the Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 74 press.

The system is claimed by the company to be unique in the 50cm x 70cm ( 19.69" x 27.56") format class and is said to be a useful addition for packaging printing.

Heidelberg said it is unveiling the straight-mode version of its medium-format (50cm x 70cm) in a new performance class of 18,000 sheets per hour (sph).

The press series previously produced 15,000sph.

The press is said to enable stable production at a speed of 18,000sph, even in continuous operation, using a spectrum of printing stocks ranging from lightweight paper to board.

The innovations include the newly developed suction head and the new automatic pile lifting control system, which are both located in the feeder.
