We're seeing an improved investment climate," said Heidelberg's chief executive officer, Bernhard Schreier in summarising the company's results from Ipex.
He said that sales of long perfector presses, the Speedmaster SM 102, Speedmaster CD 102 and Speedmaster XL 105 were particularly high, and there is a growing trend to combine them with the new Cutstar sheeter.
The Speedmaster CD 74 with a claimed speed of up to 18,000 sheets per hour (sph) also attracted interest.
Jurgen Rautert, a management board member for engineering and manufacturing at Heidelberg, said: "The innovation drive towards shorter make-ready times received a great deal of interest from our customers." Heidelberg's new Anicolor inking unit technology with claimed shorter make-ready times and reduced start-up waste and new Prinect modules for integrating all print shop processes, were also demonstrated.
Prinect, including the world premiere of the Prinect Inpress Control for a fully automated colour workflow were a further attraction for visitors, said Heidelberg.
Rautert added: "Process integration is gaining popular appeal in the market.
I have the impression that a large number of print shops are looking for a solution for their business model in this regard." In the pre-press sector, orders for the Suprasetter family of CTP platesetters were healthy.
In post-press, the Stahlfolder and Stitchmaster series were also in demand, whilst the new Eurobind 4000 perfect binder enjoyed success too, added the company.
George Clarke, head of Heidelberg's UK sales organisation, said: "Once again, Ipex has demonstrated its importance to the UK.
The UK market is and will remain of particular interest for long perfectors from Heidelberg.
A 75 per cent market share sets a clear standard.".
