Heidelberg displays products at new printing works

A Heidelberg product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Nov 10, 2008

Heidelberg has marked the opening of its Print Media Centre (PMC) in Wiesloch-Walldorf (Germany) with a series of customer events.

Over four days, more than 100 European packaging printers looked at Heidelberg's portfolio.

Virtually all the innovations introduced at Drupa 2008 have now been integrated in the PMC.

The PMC is located in hall 11 and is where the large-format Speedmaster XL 145 and XL 162 presses are assembled.

Heidelberg uses three production lines at the PMC to demonstrate integrated folding carton production, taking in layout work and the packaged folding carton.

It has six Speedmaster presses in 35 x 52cm (13.8 x 20.5in) to 121 x 162cm (47.6 x 63.8in) sizes.

The Suprasetter CTP platesetter, the Varimatrix and Dymatrix die cutters and the Diana and Easygluer folder gluers can be networked with the Prinect Packaging Workflow.

Other applications include: UV printing, cold foil applications and surface finishing with Duo technology, which can be combined with flexographic printing before and after offset printing.

It also has an ink-mixing room and a workshop for die cutters, a joint initiative with Heidelberg partner Marbach.

The Linoprint inkjet offers brand protection and security options.

The demonstration centres in Heidelberg and Wiesloch-Walldorf have Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) quality seal certification.

By using FSC paper and card (materials from sustainable forests) and supporting the global FSC system, Heidelberg is demonstrating its environmental and social responsibility.
