Minotaur invests in Heidelberg machines

Minotaur has taken delivery of a second-hand Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74-10-P 10-colour perfector and is refurbishing two other Heidelberg SM 74 presses (one five-colour and one six-colour press).

The company has centralised from three units totalling 10,000ft2 into a single 30,000ft2 premises where it hopes to expand, increasing staff numbers from 36 to 60 in this calendar year.

It has also bought a new Suprasetter 75 from Heidelberg - a 33 plates an hour CTP device - along with the Printready suite, including the Signastation imposition software.

It has also invested in Remote Access, which will enable Minotaur's trade customers to view proofs on the internet and, using rules-based automation, feed files into bespoke impositions, which will then run through to plate-making with no manual intervention.

The company is running the Suprasetter with Agfa Azura chemistry-free plates, which the company said fits with its objective to achieve ISO 14001 environmental accreditation this year.

Also arriving this month from Heidelberg will be a Polar 115X Flowline with stacker, jogger and Transomat unloading.

Materials handling around a guillotine improves productivity and minimises physical stress on operators, added the company.

Minotaur is also expanding its digital print side with an Anapurna wide-format inkjet line and HP Indigo 7000 press with some additional digital finishing equipment.
