New shrinkwrapping lines at Charlesworth

A The Charlesworth Group product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Nov 16, 2007

Leading Wakefield printers The Charlesworth Group have recently installed two new shrinkwrapping lines supplied by Yorkshire Packaging Systems

The installation consists of a TSLA 50 x 40 semi-automatic combination unit 'L' sealer and shrink tunnel, as well as a modified SVA 60 x 35 fully automatic side feed sleeve sealer with shrink tunnel and is part of a major expansion drive.

The sleeve wrapper has a specially modified infeed arrangement to enable it to comfortably and reliably handle any loose collated products at speeds up to 20 packs per minute.

A modified unit was essential as a standard system would not have satisfied Charlesworth's need to shrinkwrap variable stacks of printed materials, books, journals, magazines and brochures, as the plate used to push the product into the shrink film could not always be guaranteed to catch the bottom item.

The modification consisted of a specially configured infeed arrangement.

Charlesworth's Chief Engineer, Kevin Jenkinson, commented 'we have seen an immediate improvement in reliability and efficiency from the day both shrinkwrappers were installed.

We have been impressed with Yorkshire Packaging's attention to detail and commitment to making sure everything worked as it should.'.
