The status of being a provider of carbon neutral printing has been granted to Howard Hunt Group after changing internal systems and offsetting unavoidable CO2.

That CO2 is a by-product of gas, electricity, staff commuting and company cars The Dartford (UK) company worked in conjunction with The Carbon Neutral Company to measure and reduce its carbon footprint

To understand its carbon liability, Howard Hunt Group measured its carbon footprint and then looked at how best to reduce emissions.

Howard Hunt Group's chosen projects for its offsetting comprise the German methane project, Querrien Forestry and Chinese hydro power project, which were all selected for their sustainability and quality of management.

The certification qualifies Howard Hunt Group to use the carbon neutral logo when communicating to clients and customers.

Jonathan Shopley, executive director at The Carbon Neutral Company, said: "Howard Hunt Group is leading the way in the printing sector in terms of environmental awareness.

We are hoping, as we have seen in other industries, to see more companies realising the importance not only to the environment but also to their public image, from becoming carbon neutral." Lucy Edwards, Howard Hunt Group's marketing director, added, "The importance of environmental awareness is becoming more critical in industry today.

We have been inspired by the work some of our clients have done in reducing their carbon footprint and offsetting essential emissions and we will be closely monitoring the progress of our chosen offsetting projects.".
