Carriers Eases Paper Reel Lifting

The Howard Handling range of reel carriers for palletising and de-palletising reels was produced following a handling enquiry from a large printer, said the company.
Matt Booker, sales manager for Howard Handling, said: "Before contacting us, our customer was manually lifting the reels on to pallets.
The company had considered solving the problem using a powered pallet stacker with boom attachment.
However, following our visit to specify the application, we were able to offer a much more cost-effective modified hand pallet truck to solve the problem." After an initial prototype machine was built and successfully installed, further orders have been received, added the company.
Booker continued: "The additional reel carriers will be built using scissor lifts to give this particular printer extra lift height.
The modified scissor lift will allow the operator to move reels on and off pallets of different heights.
All reel carriers incorporate safety straps to ensure that the reel is held securely whilst in transit.
In addition, because the machines are built to order, almost any size of reel can be accommodated." Howard Handling is a supplier of pallet trucks, scissor lifts, pallet stackers and other materials handling equipment.
It also designs and supplies bespoke systems for handling where a standard pallet truck or lifting aid is not sufficient.
