Howard Smith Paper has held the fourth in its lecture series in support of the Greencoat range of papers, featuring the work of renowned sculptor Lawrence Weiner

Bronx born Weiner held centre stage to an audience at BAFTA's private members club at 195 Piccadilly, London, providing glimpses of his evocative work in a mini video documentary to accompany the presentation of his work in, 'Turning Some Pages', the journal which accompanies the lecture The Turning Some Pages journal features completely new examples of Weiner's work, perfectly combining with the qualities of the Greencoat range of papers

For printers, the Greencoat range, which incorporates Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) accreditation, offers an extensive variety of finishes that are perfectly suited to a vast range of corporate communications.

It combines cost saving elements with environmental, as it includes a high bulk product, which can reduce the amount of paper used per job, whilst the production mills have obtained both BS EN ISO 9001 and 14001 accreditation, ensuring that all responsibilities in the manufacturing processes and local environment are strictly monitored.

The Greencoat range includes varieties such as Greencoat Plus Gloss - ideal for magazines, calendars and with 80 percent recycled post-consumer fibre; Greencoat Plus Velvet - FSC certified, available in digital paper for Indigo and colour digital presses and with 80 percent recycled post-consumer fibre content; and Greencoat Matt Extra - available in Cut Star reels and reels for web with 70 percent recycled post-consumer fibre content.

Greencoat provides a combination of quality, value and care for the environment available today, important considerations for every printer.

Speaking at the event, Howard Smith Paper marketing manager, Martin Webster heralded the Weiner lecture as: "The icing on the cake".

As a brand new initiative, Webster announced that the Weiner Lecture will also be released as a pod cast on the HSPG website, whilst the limited edition journals that are distributed will also contain a transcript from the evening.

Webster also announced the addition of Greencoat Semi-Matt to the Greencoat family, which will be a 100 percent recycled grade and is due for release in the next few weeks.

The production of the Turning Some Pages journal was collaboration between Howard Smith Paper, Browns and St Ives Westerham Press, who printed the journal using 225 line screen (coated) 200 line screen (uncoated) with Novaspace inks plus metallic silver.

Described as one of the luminaries of conceptual art in the international design community, Weiner's work encompasses many strands, including video, film, performance art, sculpture and graphic art.

No stranger to the world of print and paper, Weiner even designed his own typeface, Margaret Seaworthy Gothic, and was presented with the Singer Prize in 1988.
