Paper firm makes quality award for brochure

CTD has won a Howard Smith Paper Graphic Design and Print Award.

The Middlesex, UK, commercial litho printer has 40 year's expertise in its field, and CTD achieved success in the manuals and catalogues category for its Fraser Yachts Charter Portfolio, printed on Howard Smith's Regency Satin 130gsm.

The Judges comment: "This was an excellent entry throughout.

It is an exceptional piece, with very good print and finishing throughout.

Fraser Yachts' Patrick Coote say the Charter Portfolio embodies good quality and unrivalled print and finishing.

CTD's Paul Dickinson says the brochure had been part of a prestigious pack for Fraser Yachts and adds: "We test-proofed most of the elements, including the text paper, cover fabrics and foiling colours.

The 130gsm Regency Satin gave excellent printability and good lift to the four-colour sets with the gloss varnish.

CTD was also awarded a commendation in the annual reports category.

One for its Premier Foods' 2007 annual report and accounts, was produced on Regency Satin 150gsm and Think4 bright 150gsm and 300gsm.

Dickinson adds: "It was a challenging job to keep a bright and clean look to the pictures as well as keeping the solid special colours flat and even.

The wholesale job came together as thread-sewn sections needing to line up perfectly and a double-pass on the binder.
