Harper Graphicsolutions, the technical service division of global anilox supplier Harper Corporation, is is to stage its 2007 Harper Flexographic Solutions Tour in the USA from February to June.
The company said that industry experts will join the Harper Graphicsolutions team for the series of free one-day seminars that focus on trouble-shooting pre-press and printroom problem areas and cover the latest trends to improve print quality and press efficiency in the flexographic sector.
Alexander James, technical graphics manager at Harper Graphicsolutions, said: "The response to the new, solutions-focused road show last year was phenomenal.
By including press-side trouble-shooting and expanding the topics beyond anilox rolls, attendance spiked and we averaged more than 70 attendees at each stop, where it was closer to 45-50 people in previous years." A total of 506 participants attended Harper's seven 2006 seminars, which took place throughout the USA and Canada, said the company.
In addition to learning new trouble-shooting information, participants toured the host school's flexo laboratory during the programme.
According to Mike Huey, midwest and western manager of Harper Graphicsolutions: "We had such a cross-section of the flexo industry attend these seminars, from company owners, presidents, vice presidents and professors, to pressmen, press helpers, supervisors, engineers, ink chemists and countless technical support and sales application people.
Over and over again we heard long-time flexo professionals comment on how much they learned from the presentations.
In short, the Solutions Tour is a great win-win for attendees and everyone involved." Harper said that the sessions are designed for print managers, print supervisors, pre-press managers, graphic designers, ink, plate and pre-press suppliers, and purchasing and general managers.
Specific seminars will vary by region, but sample topics will include troubleshooting die-cutting issues, press inputs for success, pre-press practices to control colour management, producing predictable and reproducible flexo, and rotary die selection and operations.
Other featured subjects will include ink handling for paper and film, analogue versus digital plate operation and how substrates affect the printing process.
Businesses may send an unlimited number of staff members to the seminar, although the company advises that timely registration is recommended due to limited seating at each event.
The schedule for the semkinar tour includes February 22 - Holiday Inn Dallas-Fort Worth Airport West (Texas), March 15 - Arizona State Polytechnic Campus, March 28 - The Blackwell Hotel, Columbus and April 11 - The Holiday Inn, Feasterville - Trevose (PA).
Other dates include May 17 - Carol Stream Holiday Inn, Carol Stream (Illinois) and June 21 - Holiday Inn North, Atlanta (Georgia).
