Harper Graphic Solutions has produced an illustrated guide for troubleshooting anilox roll applications.

The 24-page illustrated guide provides a reference to common and less than common condition that frequently arise during the anilox printing process, Harper said.

Suggested care of bearings and gears, solutions to plate cylinder over-impressions, corrective actions for misaligned anilox, plate and impression cylinders and cures for excessive impressions between plate and substrate are among the problems addressed in the troubleshooting guide.

Ink-related issues are also covered in the guide.

It provides a causes-and-remedies approach to many topics, such as the monitoring of ink pressure, the elimination of ink flooding and excessive pressure, as well as avoiding improper settings of the ink roller nip, and solutions to fast-drying ink.

This section of the guide also details issues over ink with excessive viscosity, water-based ink with insufficient pH, and solvent imbalances, for example.
