HSW Print has announced a two-year GBP1 million investment programme focusing on training, environmental improvement and additional equipment.

The Tonypandy (Wales) company is to embark on the next phase of development following an earlier GBP3 million equipment investment David Hackman, the joint managing director of HSW Print, said: "We have recently invested over GBP3 million in state of the art printing machinery but we recognise that to maintain our position as one of the leading printers in the UK we need to continue to improve and develop

As a result, we have an investment strategy in place to develop our environmental policy and we have also employed a dedicated human resources officer, which gives us the opportunity to make greater commitment to training and professional development." The company, which employs 80 people, is one of the biggest employers in the Rhondda area of Wales and it said that it will be devising a full training and development programme.

Malcolm Hackman, the firm's other joint managing director, added: "HSW has always been exemplary at meeting the legal environmental and training requirements but with this investment we hope to exceed those.

As with any business, our primary goal has been to ensure we have the very latest technically advanced equipment but by ring-fencing this investment we believe we will be able to explore new opportunities and initiatives, lessening our impact on the environment and creating a world class work force." He continued: "To us this is crucial in terms of commercial success, as the customer is rightly demanding higher standards.".
