Dampening Filter Trials Successes In
Australia
Trials at printing companies across six Australian states are said to be proving successful for Hydro-Dynamic Products and its Envirofilter dampening solution filtration system.
Now a further 10 units have been ordered from the British company for use on Australian presses The UK company now believes that Envirofilter can be an Australian export success story because the system is claimed to extend the life of dampening solution from a few weeks to a number of months

Five months after the launch of a new dampening solution filtration system Hydro-Dynamic Products has recorded the 60th sale of its Envirofilter.
Dampening Filtration Saves Money And 'Green'
Saving money whilst also improving environmental performance, J Thomson Colour Printers is gaining the benefits of a dampening solution filtration system on three presses at its Glasgow plant.
The Australian trials are following a promotional trip undetaken by Hydro-Dynamic Products (HDP) managing director, David Sheard.
Named international company of the year at last year's Ipex exhibition, HDP said it has seen 100 of the units installed throughout the world since the product was launched nine months ago.
As well as prolonging the lifespan of dampening solution, the Envirofilter is also claimed to eliminate calcium and keeps the fountain system in optimum condition.
It can more than halve solution costs and reduces the amount of environmental waste and the cost of disposal, added the company.
It is also said to cut drain downs by up to four times and is efficient at maintaining water quality on presses using low-alcohol, or no-alcohol solutions, cut the use of IPA.
HDP explained that Envirofilter can reduce the use of water by a press by up to 500 litres every six weeks - a benefit that is making the technology particularly attractive in Australia where water shortages are an environmental concern.
David Sheard added: "Environmental awareness is particularly strong in Australia where there's a long history of the need to protect a sensitive ecology.
Every state has massive water shortages and many of the printing companies I spoke to there are particularly keen on any technology which can reduce consumption." Printing is Australia's fifth largest manufacturing sector, comprised almost entirely of small to medium-sized companies.
