The Envirofilter dampening solution filtration system has extended the life of the dampening solution at Ortek Colour Printers.

The Envirofilter dampening solution filtration system has extended the life of the dampening solution at Ortek Colour Printers Craig Morris, the managing director of Walsall (UK) Ortek, explained: "The life of the dampening solution on our five-colour and 10-colour Komori presses has increased substantially since the Envirofilters were fitted, with a corresponding increase in the times between drain downs." He added: ""We are saving money on the purchase and disposal of dampening solution, as well as reducing the amount of environmental waste." Launched a year ago by Hydro-Dynamic Products, the Envirofilter is claimed to extend the lifespan of dampening solution from a few days to a few months

The company added that Envirofilter sales already top 100 units as an increasing number of printers opt to install them.

Said to be maintenance-free, the Envirofilter is also claimed to eliminate calcium and, by maintaining water quality on presses using low or no alcohol solutions, it enables the use of eco-damaging IPA to be dramatically reduced, added Hydro-Dynamic Products.

One Envirofilter is sufficient to filter a 12-colour press, although larger units are available.

under normal conditions Hydro-Dynamic Products said it would expect the initial installation cost of an Envirofilter to be recovered in four to six months.
