Ipex 2006 is to provide a higher profile for paper converting and packaging production with a re-arrangement of the main halls' layouts.

Ipex 2006 is to provide a higher profile for paper converting and packaging production with a re-arrangement of the main halls' layouts.

Originally located in Hall 5, those functions have now been transferred to Halls 1, 2 and 3 as part of an integrated post-press area.

Commenting on the decision, exhibition director Trevor Crawford said: "As the lines between post-press and converting are becoming increasingly blurred, we've been working closely with exhibitors to find the best solution in terms of location.

The decision to move to Halls 1, 2 and 3 will also benefit visitors to Ipex 2006 by providing them with an end-to-end representation of the print and packaging industry in a single area." The Halls will showcase the complete packaging workflow, with flexographic printing, die cutting, folding and gluing, corrugated and board conversion, inspection and accessories all in one zone.

An area in excess of 20,000 square metres is available and 61 per cent of that has already been reserved by names such as Bobst, Bielomatic, Ashe Converting, Korber Paperlink and Winkler and Dunnebier.

Further announcements will be made about special features at Ipex 2006 for the packaging and converting sector to highlight innovations.

The original halls 1-5 situated around the Piazza at the NEC will contain Print City, Post-Press and Converting and Press Machinery.

Visitors arriving at Birmingham international airport or railway station can take the sky-rail link directly into that area.

Ipex 2006 will run from April 4-11 at the NEC in Birmingham (UK).
