In a move to meet exhibitor demands for additonal space and accommodate some exciting new features at Ipex 2006, IIR Exhibitions has secured tenancy of Hall 20 at Birmingham's NEC The new hall will replace Hall 10 to generate a further a 6,000 square metres of exhibitor space, offering an extension to the pre-press, digital and other hi-tech business, which will be a major focus for Ipex 2006 said IIR

"We are extremely encouraged by demand for space at Ipex 2006 so far.

This highlights the renewed optimism in the print industry and desire to showcase products that are best in class," said Louisa Theobald, the show's sales director.

"Hall 20 will provide visitors with an exciting mix of product development and market intelligence through cutting-edge technology on show.

Bespoke zones focusing on areas such as MIS, large format and paper will highlight how business innovations are affecting all areas of the print industry," she added.

The addition of Hall 20 is designed to maximise the visitor experience by allowing a seamless flow of traffic from the other areas of the show.

As well as having its own entrance, the hall can also be accessed directly from Hall 6, which is also dedicated to pre-press.

Further details of the features within Hall 20 will be released over the coming months added IIR.

The Ipex team has also announced an important change to its hall layout, in a move to provide a higher profile for paper converting and packaging production.

Originally located in Hall 5, those functions have now been transferred to Halls 1, 2 and 3 as part of an integrated post-press area.

Commenting on the decision, Exhibition Director Trevor Crawford said: "As the lines between post-press and converting are becoming increasingly blurred, we've been working closely with exhibitor to find the best solution in terms of location.

The decision to move to Halls 1, 2 and 3 will also benefit visitors to Ipex 2006 by providing them with an end-to-end representation of the print and packaging industry in a single area." The halls will showcase the complete packaging workflow, with flexographic printing, die-cutting, folding and gluing, corrugated and board conversion, inspection and accessories all in one zone.

An area over 20,000 square metres is available and 80 per cent of that had already been reserved by companies such as Bobst, Bielomatic, Kober PaperLink, Winkler+Dunnebier, BHS, Cerutti and Vega added Crawford.
