DM Addressing A Fraction Of Cost Of Binary Systems

Visitors to the Imaje stand at the UK's International Direct Marketing Fair (IDMF) saw live demonstrations of the Mailjet Advantage inkjet system controlled by the Messajer 520, printing logos, PPIs, and other address information.
Imaje believes that together those systems deliver high quality addressing at a fraction of the cost of binary printing systems.
Up until now binary systems have been the only option if high quality addressing and graphics was required.
The Mailjet Advantage continuous inkjet system provides an alternative with a high printing resolution of 120 dots per inch (dpi) making it suitable for printing addresses, logos and PPIs (post print impressions) on to envelopes, paper, poly and other non-porous materials, said the company.
Due to the size of the compact eight-nozzle printhead, it is possible to integrate two printheads in parallel, enabling users to print address information with one printhead and additional graphics, such as PPIs, complex logos and sender's address, with the other, added Imaje.
The Advantage is claimed to provide environmental benefits.
Solvent usage is claimed to be as low as one litre per week compared to up to one litre an hour on some competing machines.
The cost savings are, therefore, substantial resulting in a rapid payback and higher margins on mail pieces claimed Imaje.
Imaje UK graphics manager, Jon Unwin, believes the Mailjet Advantage fills the gap between the low resolution inkjet addressing systems and the high resolution complex binary systems.
"We believe we have found a niche with the Mailjet Advantage.
It is capable of printing PPIs and other address information on to almost any substrate at a fraction of the running costs of other inkjet systems, yet delivers high quality results normally only associated with binary technology." The Messajer 520 controller allows operators to set up the next print job, whilst the current print run is in operation, enabling lines to run with minimal downtime.
The Messajer 520 can also control upstream equipment such as inserters.
