Imaje has added the 5000 Series of thermal transfer on-line coders to its product portfolio.

Imaje has added the 5000 Series of thermal transfer on-line coders to its product portfolio Claimed to be highly flexible for printing product information directly on to packaging films, it is said to combine reliable print engine technology with Windows-based message design

Printing at a claimed resolution of 300 dots per inch (dpi) (12 dots per millimetre), the thermal transfer on-line coder, available in intermittent, traversing or continuous versions, can be integrated in to all types of form, fill and seal machinery and codes all types of packaging film, as well as carton boxes prior to filling, said Imaje.

The coder has a choice of printing areas, varying from 53mm x 107mm to 107mm x 133mmm, allowing messages to range from a simple date to a complete list of ingredients with logos and barcodes.

With a user-friendly backlit touch-screen, simple messages such as use-by-dates can be created directly on the coder.

Alternatively, customised logos and fonts, barcodes and other complex graphics can be created using the TT Soft Graphic Editor and downloaded to the coder via a PCMCIA card or RS232 serial connection, added Imaje.

The company believes that reliability is ensured by a Kyocera Corner Edge print head, while efficiency is guaranteed with 600 metres of easy loading ribbon.

The 5000 is a thermal transfer on-line printer within everyone's reach, claimed Imaje, with versatility to lend itself to primary packaging coding applications in industries as diverse as food, beverage or pharmaceuticals.
