The first third generation of laser coders has been launched by Imaje.

The first third generation of laser coders has been launched by Imaje.

The new Imaje 7000 series is now available in the UK and, according to Imaje they will mark the end of poor printing performance and overheating problems in laser coding.

The 7000 series comprises the 10W Imaje 7011 and the 30W Imaje 7031, both of which are claimed to be capable of meeting the most demanding coding requirements on primary packaging applications, including food and beverage products.

Imaje group product manager, Francois Barreau, commented: "The Imaje 7000 series is a major step in scribing laser technology.

With the 7000 series, laser coding will never be the same again, with the time of overheating problems, poor printing performance at high speed and limited duty cycles now over.

It offers major opportunities for dry food companies that want to change their marking technology." The scribing CO2 laser coders feature a third generation laser head that can operate at temperatures up to 35 degrees C without the need for external cooling.

The combination of galvohead technology with the latest CO2 laser source results in high product throughput (up to 1,000 characters per second) without affecting the quality of the code.

Imaje said that the 7000 series can be integrated in to most production lines due to its modular design consisting of three separate components.

It comprises a controller, cable and a laser head with the controller housed in a stainless steel cabinet, whilst an aluminium body with FDA approved coating protects the laser.

The controller is also said to offer easy access to safety features with an emergency stop button, as well as dedicated power and shutter control keys.

The laser head offers 0 degrees and 90 degrees laser beam orientation and flexible interconnecting cable (up to nine metres).

The user interface features the iTouch 12" colour touch screen with claimed easy to recognise icons facilitating menu navigation and printer operation.

A WYSIWYG display with zoom function offers one stroke access for variable message editing, whilst multi-level user password management and user confirmation ensure safe operation.

With a range of languages, characters and fonts available (including specific fonts for thin materials), the 7000 Series can print logos, graphics and one and two dimensional barcodes.
