As part of its £9.5m investment programme Image Data Group has installed the UK's first Sign-Tronic Stencilmaster at its Point of Purchase advertising division in Leeds The Stencilmaster is said to be the world's first fully automated in-line screen preparation system with digital UV exposure

The system images screen printing without the use of consumables, said the company.

The Stencilmaster 1621 exposes screens digitally to UV light at a claimed production speed up to 26 square metres (280 square feet) per hour using standard emulsions.

The Stencilmaster has been designed for the fully automated vertical in-line production of frames up to 2,300mm x 2,700mm (90" x 106") with an image size of 1,600 x 2,100mm (63" x 83").

The resolution of 1,270 dots per inch (dpi), micron precision and sharp dot reproduction are said to ensure screen rulings up to 60 lines per centimetre (150 lines per inch).

Paul Gibson, group operations director of parent company Image Data Group said: "We are very excited about the Stencilmaster, which will deliver even greater productivity and quality for our clients.

The retail environment continues to be as frenetic as ever and we are constantly striving to introduce technology that will meet and surpass our clients' continually shortening deadlines.

We have spent a long time researching the market and are convinced that we have purchased the most efficient and advanced direct to screen pre-press system available." Michael Mogge, general sales director, of Sign-Tronic said: "It's been great working with Image Data Group on the installation of the Stencilmaster, which has progressed problem-free.

IDG is very advanced technically and we have received some very enthusiastic feedback from its production department.".
